November 30th, 2010

You may have noticed at Wedding And Gems that many of my hair pins/grips designs are available both an a hair grip and a hair pin.  If you’re unsure of the difference a hair grip, is a shorter grip, with 2 prongs which are close together and is primary used to hold small bits of hair in place, such as the wispy bits of hair at the base of your neck which aren’t long enough to be tied into a high pony tail, or for pining your fringe back if you’re growing it out like me.  Hair pins (shown in the picture) are longer and they have 2 prongs which are separated this allows them to be used for bigger pieces of hair and they help maintain the structure of the hair style.  For example if you were trying to create a bun you would use hair pins to keep the bun in place after you’d twisted the hair.  If you tried to use hair grips you would stretch them out of shape and they probably won’t hold the style so well and since you’ve warped them out of shape you wouldn’t be able to reuse them.
