Bespoke Hairvine – Full of Sparkle

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Hair vines seem to be one of the things that brides request often as a bespoke item.  This one was a pleasure to create and it was something different to the norm.  It’s a lot wider than I usually design and a lot longer.  What made this challenge easy is that I had a bride to be who had a good idea of what she wanted and how she was planning on wearing it.

If you’re not aware of my normal process for creating bespoke wedding accessories then after the bride has given me a broad idea of what they’re after, I’ll create rough sketch and which is emailed with a quote. If they’re happy with the design and price, I’ll take a deposit and crack on with the work.  When it’s completed, I’ll take a photo and send it to the bride and if she’s ecstatic, the remaining money is paid and it’s posted out to her.

So now I’ve explained my process, I’ll show you the hair vine.

This vine has a total length of 12 inches and a width of 2 inches.  It’s been designed to wrap around a lose bun that the bride was wearing at high at the back of the head. It helps that the bride had a good idea of how she wanted to wear her hair.  For me this is one of the things that should really be decided before shopping for wedding hair accessories as it gives you a good idea of the size the accessory needs to be and what type would be best suited.

Bespoke Bridal Accessories – Hair Vines

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Already twice this week I’ve had brides contact me to create bespoke bridal accessories in particular hair vines for them and when they’ve sent photos of how they’re planning on wearing their hair on their wedding day, it’s clear why they want a hair vine and not a tiara.  There are plenty of brides who are still choosing a tiara for their bridal head wear but more and more are opting for a hair vine.  Wedding hair vines are very flexible, they can be twisted into a loose bun, a messy up do or wrapped into a boho style which is so popular this year.  Hair vines are fun, you can create so many different styles with them and if you want to keep your accessories low-key, then along with wedding hair pins or grips they are definitely the way to go.  If you need inspiration on how to wear a hair vine you could look at how Cat has worn hers here: Cats Bespoke Hair Vine

One of the bridal hair vines I created this week was for a bride who was getting married in Cyprus, it was only then that I realised how perfect hair vines were for a relaxed wedding in a warm sunny climate.  This bride had a clear idea what she wanted and you can see part of the wedding hair vine created below.

The other bride who contacted me this week also had a picture of her dream bridal hair vine.  Unfortunately the picture was taken from a magazine and too small to see the hair vine clearly.  So we discussed how we could take elements of the design and create it into something perfect for her.  As usual, I sent her a photo of the hair vine to make sure she was 100% happy with it before I posted it out.  She showed that photo to her hairdresser and she bought one too.  You can see this hair vine below.

If you were thinking about choosing a hair vine over a tiara, decide on how you will be wearing your hair on your wedding day as this will determine the length of hair vine you need.  The website offers a number of different lengths but if length of hair vine isn’t available on the site just contact me using the contact form to discuss your requirements and I’ll create a hair vine to a perfect length for your hair style.  You can also have other bespoke bridal accessories created to match.
