What are Hair Vines?

Hair vines tend to be created from silver or gold coloured wire with either diamantes, pearls or crystals and occasionally other gemstones or beads.  They are long, thin and usually flexible so they can be bent into shape or weaved into the hair.

When should you choose a bridal hair vine?

There are now so many options when you choose your wedding accessories for your hair, such as tiaras, headbands, combs, pins and grips, so what makes hair vines a perfect choice for some?

Hair vines are very flexible so they can be manipulated into many shapes, therefore they can be incorporated in to wedding hair styles easily.  They’re great if you want to have a more informal feel to your wedding accessories.  If you were opting for crystal or diamante hair vines, you can add sparkle without having to place individual hair pins making it quicker and easier to complete your bridal hairstyle.  Currently brides are opting for a soft romantic curly or wavy hair style for their wedding day and hair vines are a perfect accompaniment for this. They are very popular for those brides who are getting married on a beach in the warm sunshine as often overseas weddings aren’t as formal as UK Church weddings.

How to secure a hair vine

Hair vines that are created with a metal wire base can be pinned into the hair at each end either by using a grip or pin, If it’s long it might need a few additional pins or grips along its length.  The width of the wire should be thin enough to slide into the centre of the hair grip but be thick and rigid enough to hold its shape when bent.

Hair vines come in difference lengths. They can be as short as 4 inches like the Calla Lily Hair Vine which are unsuitable for weaving into the hair but perfect for being placed against a French roll or on the side of the hair. There is no limit on the length of a vine, but longer hair vines are more suited for being wound or weaved around the hair or being used as a headband if each end is pinned behind the ear.  A long hair vine can be worn across your forehead in a boho style.  Just thread thin ribbon through the loops at either end and tie at the back.  If you’re unsure how to place a hair vine take a look on the Internet for inspiration.  But make sure you decide on your hair style before buying so you know the right length for you.  Remember if the design you like is only made in short lengths you can always buy 2 to get the length that you need.
