The Wedding Fair
I have just walked in from the Wedding Fair at Samlesbury Hall. It’s the first time there for me and I have to say I was very impressed with the venue and the staff – Yes I’m jealous of any one lucky enough to be getting married there.
The day didn’t start off so well though, I live 10 minutes away from Samlesbury Hall and what should have been a simple journey turned into a nightmare. Simply put we got lost and we found ourselves up in the very pretty village of Mellor, not exactly where we needed to be. Thankfully with a bit of backtracking (and luck) we eventually found our way. Below is a photo of the Wedding And Gems table at Samlesbury Hall.
I’m glad I did eventually find the venue because I have had a really great day, much better than expected. I have met so many brides today and some of you have astonished me. A bride who has the talent to create her own wedding dress made a lasting impression, she has my admiration, I’d love to be able to take material and a sewing machine and make something beautiful.
It wasn’t just the brides who have left me with good memories but also the brides mothers. Most brides cringe at the idea of their mother organising their wedding, yes we like them to be involved (usually) but not to the point where they are organising the wedding. However I met a mother of the bride today who was organising her daughters wedding as she’s currently living in America but having her wedding here in the UK. This is the second wedding she’s organised for someone else, the first being a wedding for one of her other daughters who lived in Spain and also got married in the UK. Definitely a mum in a million I think!
There have been so many brides, their mothers, sisters and friends that I have met today that it would be impossible to mention you all. But it has been very rewarding to spend some time with you and discuss some of your wedding plans.
It isn’t just the brides and their family / friends that have made today so enjoyable but also the other wedding professionals that I have shared a room with today, I wanted to make a special mention to Natalie and Rachel from Travel Counsellors, the Highgate String Quartet who provide beautiful music for the day, Granville from Merlin Magic and his partner in crime Charlie Paul, who entertained me with their fantastic humour and their general craziness.
For those brides-to-be who attended the Samlesbury Hall wedding fair, I really hope you enjoyed it at least half as much as I did and I hope enjoy the rest of your wedding planning.
